Instructions
This page is a tool for quickly solving sudoku puzzles. You can either select a puzzle difficulty to have a random puzzle generated, or enter your own puzzle into the blank board.
To enter a number into a cell, click on the cell, enter the value, and then click somewhere outside that cell.
Modes:
To help you solve the puzzle, there are several modes. Each mode has a keyboard shortcut. If these do not work, then try clicking on the board before using the shortcut.
| Mode | Description | Keyboard Shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| None | Just displays the board, nothing special. If you are in "Show Left" mode, you will have to return to this mode before entering a new value. | '0' twice |
| Number possibilities (1-9): | Highlights the remaining possible locations for a particular number. To manually remove a possibility, type 'x' into a square. NOTE: if you type a number into a cell and then delete it, all manually removed possibilities will be replaced. | The number twice |
| Singles | Highlights squares with only one possible number. | 'i' twice |
| Show Left | Can use with above two modes. Instead of displaying empty cells, shows the remaining possibilities. | 's' twice |
'Open Sub-Puzzle'
Opens a new puzzle in a new window with all currently filled out cells made uneditable. Useful for entering your own puzzles and using guess and check.
